Lansdowne Park contains large amounts of contaminated soil that will be dug up during redevelopment. Differences of opinion exist concerning the cost and care required for the clean-up, and the potential risks to neighbourhoods and the environment. To help the public understand the environmental issues at Lansdowne Park, the City of Ottawa and Glebe Community Association are planning a meeting on October 27, 2011 at the Glebe Community Centre. The meeting will feature presentations by knowledgeable representatives from the provincial Ministry of the Environment, the City and an independent environmental expert, followed by a question and answer period. Environmental assessment reports and a peer review of these reports can be found at http://letsgetitright.ca/issues/environment. This meeting is being planned with the assistance of Councillor Chernushenko and the office of the MPP from Ottawa Centre
