Great music and great community spirit come together in two back-to-back fundraising concerts featuring award-winning musicians. Funds from both events will support efforts to get a better plan for Lansdowne Park.
Wednesday, April 20: Just Voices Earth Day Concert
Just Voices is an energetic community choir based in Ottawa, Ontario. As the name suggests, the choir sings songs on activist and protest themes such as social injustice, war and the environment, including freedom, bicycling, and workers' songs from many countries. The group's annual Earth Day concert takes place on Wednesday, April 20th and features Ian Tamblyn, winner of the CFMA's 2010 award for English singer-songwriter of the year. Ian Tamblyn has written a song for the cause called "Village". Listen in here for inspiration and then plan to attend the April 20 concert which will benefit Friends of Lansdowne.

Marriner, a stop-you-in-your-tracks harmonica player, just took home Canada's National Blues Music Award for male vocalist and harmonica player of the year. They've played Bluesfest here in Ottawa, and recently performed for blues legends Buddy Guy and Bonnie Raitt in the finale concert of the Blues Music Award ceremonies in Memphis. There's a cash bar, a dance floor for you to boogie on, and free parking across the street. Tickets are $30 and available at the Glebe Community Centre, Compact Music, and the Ottawa Folklore Centre.
