Lansdowne Site Plan Meeting, Legal Challenge and More

Dear Friends of Lansdowne,

Don't believe the spin that the Lansdowne Partnership Plan is a done deal. The plan has not yet received final approval from the City and it will not be approved until after the election. If you are concerned about the proposals to transfer this public resource to private hands for the next half-century, there is still time to act.

We urge you to:

1. Attend the public consultation on the site plan this Thursday, October 14th

2. Make Lansdowne an election issue

3. Support the Lansdowne Legal Challenge

Important Public Meeting on the Lansdowne Site Plan:Thursday, October 14
Civic Centre Salons, Lansdowne Park
6:30pm - 7:30pm  View Display Boards
7:30pm - 8:00pm  Hear presentation
8:00pm - 9:30pm  Participate in break-out groups

An integrated site plan for Lansdowne has finally been revealed. The new plan reveals that the scale of commercial development is bigger and the amount of park space is smaller than on earlier concept drawings. There are roadways throughout the site, heritage buildings are affected, and the space for the Ottawa Farmers Market has been reduced, making it unclear if the market will be viable. Come out to the public meeting, or comment online here.

Make Lansdowne an Election Issue

It will be up to the new Council to implement the Lansdowne Partnership Plan. So ask candidates about where they stand on integrity, fairness, transparency, competitive processes, fiscal responsibility, heritage and protecting public resources and interests. You can find a suggested list of questions to ask candidates here.

Support the Lansdowne Legal Challenge

Friends of Lansdowne has started legal proceedings to stop the city's deeply flawed development plans. We have engaged a first-rate legal firm and an application has been filed with the Superior Court of Ontario. We need your financial support so that the challenge goes forward as strongly as possible. We call on all concerned citizens to contribute generously. Read our application and find out how to donate here.
